Currently it's the Indian Festival of Lights or Deepavali, a Hindu event celebrating Light over Darkness, Good over Evil. It runs for over a month in Little India, the Indian enclave in Singapore. There are street light-ups during Chinese New Year in Chinatown, Ramadan in the Malay and Arab quarters, and Christmas in Orchard Road which is the main tourist shopping district in Singapore. So there is always a chance that a tourist to Singapore will catch one of these street light-ups. .
